Formed in 2011, The Helmut Bergers chose a dazzling name that already sparks associations with a certain lifestyle - a mix of arrogance, loud-mouthed confidence, a “don’t-give-a-damn” attitude, total collapse, and gutter glamour.

Far from relying solely on the lost decades of a specific brand of decadence, their love for post-punk, indie rock, synth-pop, electro, and rave is less about nostalgia and more about carefully crafted arrangements, rhythms, and melodies that promise to leave you wanting more.

Never short on catchy hooks, “mantra-heavy” choruses, and small sonic quirks, they create miniature dramas and comedies about emotional states of emergency and the “rebellion of feelings.”

True to the motto “Anything goes, nothing’s required,” the band once again pairs tongue-in-cheek understatement with grand pop pathos, idleness with restlessness, and rock’n’roll with rave. Their signature attitude—“cool, lascivious, sexy”—is rooted in a very specific, electrified melancholy.

In other words: you’ll dance wildly through the hangover haze of euphoric party nights, still screaming “We are thirsty” with persistent determination.

Their latest work arrives with nothing less than the old magic formula: Abracadabra. Album is out on Oct. 3rd.
